Louis-Antoine Luyt – Clos Ouvert
After a few experiences with Philippe Pacalet and Marcel Lapierre, Louis-Antoine set up home in Chile, in the province of Cauquenes, where he made his first wines in 2006 and introduced the “Mondovino” to the Pais variety. The Pacific and the Andes protected this small-scale wine viticulture from phylloxera. His Pais vintages stem from vines aged 180 to 300 years old!
The February 2010 earthquake destroyed most of the local infrastructures, including the Clos Ouvert as well as a good part of the 2009 crop. The will to survive and the solidarity that followed this event led to an even more precise, fluid and digestible 2010 vintage.
